Rotating Exhibition Space

Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s collection houses over 22 million objects and specimens, less than 1% of which are on view at any given time. A new rotating exhibition space in the former Walton Hall of Egypt will give visitors a chance to see more of what the museum has to offer, and will unite art and science in a way that only Carnegie Museums can.

Each exhibition featured in this space will feel personal and relevant to our visitors by centering connections to Pittsburgh, and by connecting the disciplines of natural history and art that uniquely sit under one roof on Forbes Avenue. Exhibitions here will invite visitors to think about how nature and culture intersect and shape our identities, views, and interpretations of the natural world.

The first show planned for the rotating exhibition space features highlights from the Carnegie’s Natural History Art collection. This inaugural exhibition would draw from across the collection, exploring ways that artists and their art have supported science and conservation initiatives throughout the years.
