Almost anything goes when it comes to showing you how the world
works in Beakman’s World Based on the Emmy award-winning Saturday-morning
television series, this exhibit takes you into space, the human body, the
jungle, and back to prehistoric times. Find out how scientists think,
and ask questions and conduct experiments. You get to handle loads of amazing
science stuff, like rubber-hose intestines, a life-size ankylosaurus dinosaur-us,
computer games, and a keyboard that plays animal calls.
As a Space Traveler, you’ll get answers to all your questions
about the solar system, light and sound. Then step onto the moon scale
to see how much you weigh in space, see how scientists search for aliens,
and perform other gravity-related experiments.
FAST FACT: Astronomers
estimate that the sun is about four-and-a-half billion years old.
In Body Invasion, you’ll travel inside the human body, and be
a contestant in the game show where the grand prize is a lifetime of good
health!
FAST FACT: The human
body produces more than 25,000 quarts of saliva in a lifetimemore than
enough to fill two swimming pools!
Take a Jungle Journey and use the same methods as scientists to
investigate the tropical rainforest and what lives there. Identify mystery
bugs in Beakman’s Gettaloadathesebugs Field Guideor name one just like
scientists do!
FAST FACT: A Monarch
butterfly can travel up to 620 miles without stopping. Most hummingbirds
weigh less than a penny!
In Prehistoric Passage, take a look at King of the Mountain and examine
dinosaur and chicken skeletons side-by-side. You’ll see why birds are thought
of as modern dinosaurs.
FAST FACT There are
prehistoric animals living among us today, like the duck-billed platypus,
the cockroach, crocodiles, turtles, and sharks!
