CENTER IS ONE OF THE FIRST SCIENCE CENTERS TO HAVE A MOTION SIMULATOR
Right now at the Science Center, you can
check out one of the latest advances in entertainment technologythe ride
simulator. the combination of audio, video and movement, youll get the
sensation of traveling through space thats like no other virtual experience.
Step inside, and youll be transported away on one of three different,
exciting excursions through space and, sometimes, time.
The Time Gate to Egypt program uses computer-generated
graphics to help passengers fly to Egypt to see the pyramids. Youll
go back in time as well, dropping in during the construction process to
see how ancient people combined brains and brawn to create one of the Seven
Wonders of the World.Virtual Time Machine, go back to the days when the
Earth was new. As you travel through time, youll meet up with dinosaurs
and even land on the moon.
The third program is Simulation Zone,
a thrilling trip that takes passengers on a wild roller coaster ride, a
downhill Alpine skiing adventure, a water skiing excursion and a go-cart
race.
The ride simulator offers a new type of
sight, sound and motion experience that cant be found anywhere else in
the Pittsburgh area, and it is available to Science Center visitors in
the first-floor atrium gallery through 1999.
The bullet-shaped simulator is 18 feet
long and eight feet highabout the size of a van, and it can accommodate
15 people at a time. The simulator is fully accessible, but because of
the movement it requires that passengers be able to hold onto safety bars.
Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult.

new wave of technology. And look for it to return in the year 2000 as part
of the Zap Surgery exhibit, where it will take passengers on a ride through

Ride while youre at the Science Center. Its an exciting ride on some
of the best roller coasters in the country. Seatbelts are optional!
