Kamin Science Center’s upcoming exhibition Building Futures (opening Spring 2027) aims to transform how young people view the trades. By highlighting a diverse range of careers and showcasing the positive impact these can have on visitors’ futures, the Science Center hopes to inspire countless young people to explore and appreciate the trades as viable and rewarding career paths.
The exhibition will be divided into several thematic career zones, introducing visitors to the skills needed to succeed in trades that Build, Connect, Heal, Transport, and Create. Experiences will ignite visitors’ curiosity through experimentation and play, offering a chance to safely experiment through both analog and digital interactives, and meaningfully explore career paths that most align with their interests.
Building Futures goes beyond highlighting the possibilities of careers in the trades. It will offer visitors information on how to turn their STEM abilities into careers, including:
- Lists of essential jobs that use featured STEM skills
- Examples of real tradespeople and their career paths
- A resource center where guests can find materials about local training programs, apprenticeships, scholarships, and job opportunities
