The Science Center’s riverfront transformation will embrace ecological restoration, introduce new access points to the water, and create a safe and user-friendly environment with opportunities for education, recreation, and leisure. The post-industrial riverfront will become a biodiverse, ecosystem-based riverfront that offers a restored environment to local wildlife and recreation opportunities for human visitors.
This project is currently in the schematic design phase, exploring possibilities from re-introducing new islands in the river to establishing mission-centric outdoor classrooms and event spaces. The museum will work in cooperation with local partners to prioritize a collaborative, transparent design process that centers community input and collaboration. The reimagined riverfront will be a source of local pride and a national model for ecological resiliency.
